Awaken your inner enchantress with this stunning skirt. It’s gathered up in front with ornate Venice appliqués at each hip, and sheer black lace insets below. The back is French bustled and oh-so-elegant. It’s the perfect piece to turn heads at a renaissance themed event, fantasy Medieval masquerade, an alternative wedding, or wherever you choose to wear it.
I draft all my own patterns, and I wear everything I make out on my own costumed adventures. My full length skirts are unique – with a varied pattern where the front is slightly shorter than the back. This makes it so that the skirt has maximal elegance and flair, but minimal chance of tripping over the hem when you walk!
In the pictures, the skirt is worn over a hoop skirt of some kind. You can wear it by itself, it will just be super flowy and quite full about the hips. This listing does not include a hoop skirt – you’ll need to purchase one separately.
The lace appliqués that adorn the hips only come in black, so all skirts will have black lace insets and black appliqués on the hips.
Also, the photos show the first two skirts I made in this style, where I used a soft stretch lace for the insets in the front. I later discovered that using a stiffer fabric results in a much cuter skirt:

Future skirt insets will be made with a non-stretch lace that has more stiffness, to help prevent the weight of the fabric from dragging the slits closed. I will update this listing with pictures of skirts made from the new lace as soon as I have them!

This skirt is intended to be worn with a corset or corset belt. Its waistband sits at high hips below/overlapping with the bottom edge of the corset. That’s why there is no “waist” measurement in the table.
Measure high hips around your hip bones, about halfway between smallest waist and largest hips. Measure low hips around your butt or thighs, whichever is largest. If your measurements put you in two different sizes, choose the size which corresponds to your low hip measurement.
Measure skirt length from high hips to the floor, in the shoes you plan to wear with your skirt. If you plan to wear your skirt without a hoop skirt (including over a petticoat), order your measured length. If you plan to wear it with a hoop skirt similar to the ones pictured, around 36″ diameter and a mostly straight shape from waistband to hem, add 2″ to your length. If you plan to wear it over a wider hoop skirt, or a hoop skirt with a more curved/bell shape, I recommend taking the length measurement over the front of your hoop skirt, with help from a partner or friend, to be sure you’re getting the correct length.
This skirt is made from bridal satin – a wonderfully thick and shiny fabric. I’m gradually adding more bridal satin colors in as I run out of shades of silky satin.
