Vintage Diva Bustle Mini Skirt – Taffeta

Price range: $118 through $126

This adorable skirt is perfect for Victorian saloon girls, steampunk divas, pinup princesses, and more. It’s a bustle skirt made from rustling taffeta fabric, with gathers across the front, and side pleats adorned with large flirty bows. The skirt’s back is full enough to fit a full bustle petticoat underneath, and the hem is trimmed in ruffled black lace for just a bit of extra sass.

About This Item

There are so many ways to wear this skirt! Worn by itself, it’s a sexy Victorian saloon girl look. Wear over a petticoat, and it’s more elegant – cute and sweet at knee to tea length, or very ladylike with a full length petticoat.  I make a number of pieces that can be used to complete your look – a lace underskirt, a long bustle petticoat, and more.  The photos below show just a few of the possibilities (skirts are from satin instead of taffeta fabric):

Size Charts

XS S M L XL 2X 3X 4X
High Hips 31-33″ 33-35″ 35-38″ 38-41″ 41-44″ 44-48″ 48-52″ 52-56″
Low Hips 33-35″ 35-38″ 38-41″ 41-44″ 44-48″ 48-52″ 52-56″ 56-60″

This skirt is intended to be worn with a corset or corset belt.  Its waistband sits at high hips below/overlapping with the bottom edge of the corset.  That’s why there is no “waist” measurement in the table.

Measure high hips around your hip bones, about halfway between smallest waist and largest hips.  Measure low hips around your butt or thighs, whichever is largest.  If your measurements put you in two different sizes, choose the size which corresponds to your low hip measurement.

Fabric Colors

This skirt is made from two-tone taffeta fabric – which consists of two colors woven together for an iridescent or metallic effect, depending upon the colors chosen.  Taffeta is light to medium weight and the best fabric for bustles, fluffy ruffles, and poofs.  It also rustles when you move!

There’s one additional color available – “Iridescent Lilac” – which is a two-tone purple/pink similar to what was used to make the skirt in the main photo.  The fabric in the main photo was discontinued – and in my sample piece the new shade looks a little bit lighter.  I will update this with pics once I get a chance to order the new color!

Trim Colors

I trim this skirt with ruffled raschel lace – the ~1.5″ style in the center of each photo below.  The other widths are the styles I use for matching bolero jackets and underskirts/bustles – so you can see how they look together.

The satin ribbon bows on the side of your skirt will match the color of the lace trim you choose – as shown in the bottom right corner of the photos.

Wait Time

About 99.99% of my orders are made with black lace trim, so typically that’s the color I have threaded on my sewing machine and serger!  When I receive an order which requires switching out thread, I try to restock a few items for my Etsy shop at the same time.

If you’re ordering black lace trim, please plan 4 to 6 weeks plus shipping time to receive your skirt.  If you’re ordering a different color trim, please plan 6 to 8 weeks plus shipping time to receive your skirt.
