You’ll have oh-so-elegant costumed adventures in this beautiful bustle skirt. It’s a convertible design which goes from full length with a few inches of train to approximately knee length. This listing is a two piece set – included is the organza bustle petticoat you’ll need to poof the skirt out in back.

This skirt is hitchable! There are ties attached to the inner sides, and you can pull them, tie them, and you’ll end up with a whole other skirt!

When at full length, this skirt must be worn over a bustle petticoat – both for the best “look” and for durability issues – those drapey pleats cling to the back of your ankles and it’s too easy to trip over the back of the skirt if you step backwards. But while it’s hitched to knee height, you can absolutely wear it without the bustle. Effectively, it’s three skirts in one!

This skirt is intended to be worn with a corset or corset belt. Its waistband sits at high hips below/overlapping with the bottom edge of the corset. That’s why there is no “waist” measurement in the table.
Measure high hips around your hip bones, about halfway between smallest waist and largest hips. Measure low hips around your butt or thighs, whichever is largest. If your measurements put you in two different sizes, choose the size which corresponds to your low hip measurement. Finally, measure skirt length from high hips to the floor, in the shoes you plan to wear with your skirt.
This skirt is made from bridal satin – a wonderfully thick and shiny fabric. I’m gradually adding more bridal satin colors in as I run out of shades of silky satin.

I trim this skirt with ruffled raschel lace – the ~1.5″ style in the center of each photo below. The other widths are the styles I use for matching bolero jackets and underskirts/bustles – so you can see how they look together.

About 99.99% of my orders are made with black lace trim, so typically that’s the color I have threaded on my sewing machine and serger! When I receive an order which requires switching out thread, I try to restock a few items for my Etsy shop at the same time.
If you’re ordering black lace trim, please plan 4 to 6 weeks plus shipping time to receive your skirt. If you’re ordering a different color trim, please plan 6 to 8 weeks plus shipping time to receive your skirt.
