About This Item

Please read before purchasing
Before you order, I want to make sure you know exactly what you’re getting. This is a fun hat base with a shape that’s incredibly hard to find, and it is made from real wool, but it differs significantly from my premium wool hat bases:
- The wool is thinner than my premium hat bases.
- The front point can soften during decorating because of the type of stiffener used by the manufacturer.
- For this reason, I strongly recommend covering the front and sides of the crown with a decorative ribbon band or similar embellishment to help reinforce and maintain the shape.
- For added durability, consider reinforcing the brim with millinery wire and finishing the edge with bias tape.
- These hats do not include an interior sweatband.
- They also do not include an elastic strap or any attachment method – you’ll need to add a strap or clips to your hat.
If you’re looking for the highest-quality hat base with a built-in band and attachment system, or if you’re looking for a Victorian-style hat that can be worn undecorated or minimally decorated, I recommend my premium wool hat bases instead. If you’re looking for this distinctive shape at an affordable price and don’t mind adding your own finishing touches, these are an excellent value.
